Privacy Policy
The short version: TapTV has no accounts and Tap Studios runs no servers that receive your data. Your TV list and pairing keys stay on your phone. The only third parties involved are Google's ad service (AdMob) and, if you buy something, Google Play.
Who we are
Tap Studios ("we", "us") makes the TapTV app. You can reach us any time at [email protected].
Information that stays on your device
To control your TV, TapTV stores the following only on your phone. We never receive it.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| TV names, models and local IP addresses | So the app can find and reconnect to your TVs. |
| Pairing tokens, keys and certificates | Your TV issues these when you approve TapTV, so you don't have to pair again every time. |
| App preferences | Settings such as your last-used TV. |
TapTV talks to your TV directly over your local Wi-Fi network. Remote commands, text you type into the keyboard tab and the lists of apps installed on your TV are sent between your phone and your TV only.
If you have Android backup turned on, Android may include this app data in your device backup to your Google account. That backup is controlled by Google and your device settings, not by us.
Screen mirroring
When you use the Mirror tab, TapTV opens your phone's own casting feature (such as Smart View or Cast), which is provided by your phone's maker. If you use the built-in browser option instead, your screen is streamed directly from your phone to your TV over your local network. Android shows a notification for as long as capture is running. We don't record, store or receive your screen.
Voice input
If you use voice typing, TapTV asks your phone's speech recognition service (usually Google's) to turn speech into text. That service is subject to its provider's privacy policy. The resulting text is sent only to your TV.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version of TapTV shows ads served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, AdMob may collect:
- your device's advertising ID,
- general device and app information (such as model, OS version and app version),
- approximate location derived from your IP address, and
- ad interactions and diagnostic data.
When required by law (for example in the EEA, UK and some US states), TapTV asks for your consent before showing personalized ads, using Google's consent tool. You can change your choice at any time from the app's settings. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings โ Privacy โ Ads.

Purchases
Optional in-app purchases (such as removing ads) are processed by Google Play. We never see your card details. Google tells the app whether a purchase is active so it can unlock the feature.
This website
tapstudios.app does not use cookies, analytics or trackers. It is served by Cloudflare, which processes basic request data (such as IP addresses) to deliver and protect the site. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts.
Children
TapTV is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your data: remove a TV inside the app, clear the app's storage, or uninstall TapTV. Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing on our side to delete.
- Ads: manage consent in the app's settings, or buy the ad-free upgrade.
- Questions or requests under privacy laws such as GDPR or CCPA: email [email protected].
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
