Getting connected
TapTV can't find my TV
- Make sure your phone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network. Guest networks and some mesh "isolation" modes block devices from seeing each other.
- Turn the TV fully on. Some TVs stop answering on the network in standby.
- Tap Scan for TVs again, or use Add by IP. You'll find the TV's IP address in its network settings.
- VPN apps on your phone can hide your local network. Pause the VPN and try again.
Roku: the remote doesn't respond
On the Roku, go to Settings → System → Advanced system settings → Control by mobile apps and set it to Enabled (or "Permissive").
Samsung: "Allow TapTV?" never appeared, or I pressed Deny
The prompt shows on the TV the first time you connect. Accept it within 60 seconds. If you denied it, go to Settings → General → External Device Manager → Device Connection Manager, remove TapTV from the device list, then connect again.
LG: pairing prompt
The first time you connect, your LG TV asks you to allow TapTV. Accept it with your physical remote within 60 seconds.
Google TV / Android TV: entering the code
A 6-character code appears on the TV. Type it into TapTV exactly as shown. Codes expire quickly, so if it fails, tap connect again to get a new one.
Fire TV and Vizio: entering the PIN
Your TV shows a 4-digit PIN when you first connect. Enter it in TapTV. You only need to do this once per TV.
Using TapTV
Can TapTV turn my TV on?
Yes on supported Samsung and LG TVs, using Wake-on-LAN. On Samsung, enable Power On with Mobile; on LG, enable Mobile TV On (both are in the TV's network or connection settings). Other brands turn off their network connection in standby, so they can only be turned off from the app.
How do I mirror my phone's screen?
Open the Mirror tab and tap the button. TapTV opens your phone's built-in casting picker (Smart View on Samsung Galaxy phones, Cast on others). Choose your TV and accept the prompt on the TV. If your phone has no casting feature, tap Show other options to stream to the TV's web browser instead.
A streaming app won't open
Use the Apps on your TV section of the Apps tab. It reads the apps directly from your TV, so it's always accurate. If an app still won't launch, make sure it's installed and signed in on the TV itself.
How do I remove ads?
Open the app's settings and choose Remove ads for a one-time purchase through Google Play. If you reinstall or switch phones, tap Restore purchase while signed in to the same Google account.
